The Great Lakes Kit Festival takes place at Grand Haven State Park on the third weekend in May. Festival events include kite ballets, an obstacle course, a fighter kite competition and free kite seminars. The event is a fundraiser for the Children's Leukemia Foundation.

What started as a simple birthday celebration for the United States Coast Guard has become an annual event complete with music, a parade, a carnival and ship tours. The event is held in late July/early August each year.
